Cleaning Products
There are so many cleaning products you can purchase these days it gets super confusing. Do you know that a lot of our cleaning products are expensive, over priced and 3/4 water. They also have harmful chemicals and fake fragrances, impacting hormones, respiratory health and our overall health and wellness. I have been making my own cleaning products for around 5 years now and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
I was always the person with a runny nose and never left the house without tissues in my bag or my pockets, just incase my nose started running. It wasn’t until I started cutting the crap out of my life that I realise I was actually reacting to the chemicals and toxics on my clothing, in my house and when cleaning. I would always have running eyes when cleaning and sneeze. I used products which were so harsh my label on my washing machine came off!
In 2016 I started to live a low toxic life, after discovering the health benefits of removing additives and chemicals out of my diet as much as possible. I became really interested to know, how I could remove as many chemicals out of my life as possible. I had a 3 year old and 8 month old at the time so I was really wanting to make sure they would not be exposed to any chemicals we could avoid. I started reading a Shannon Lush book and followed several of her ideas and recipes. She is all about natural cleaning and low cost. I purchased a 2nd hand steam cleaner for $40 my sister in law recommended and I still love using it today (the best $40 I ever spent). I mainly clean with vinegar, bicarbonate soda, castile soap, essential oils and water. I use a cleaning paste, I am sharing below and it cleans most of my kitchen, bathroom, laundry areas and also my tile floors. I use my steam cleaner and the paste together and they work so well. No toxic chemicals and a beautiful clean house when I finish.

What you Don’t Know Won’t Hurt You!!!!!
I remember when I first started this journey, I was suffering from irritated skin and often was bloated, getting cramps after eating and then running to the toilet. I felt like what was effecting me was from the food I was eating. I was 17 when things started to impact me the most. I am not sure of the first triggers and spent around 12 years trying to solve my skin and gut issues. The doctor couldn’t give me any answers and said if I really wanted to we could run lots of tests to try and see, however we most likely won’t find any answers. I started using organic shampoos, soaps, deodorants and lotions. I cut out full cream products and changed the cooking oils I was using. I looked at the spreads and my bread I was eating. I was taking multivitamins and thought I was eating healthy. I went on to study to become an educator in Health and Physical Education and General Primary teaching. I felt I was learning more about a healthy diet so was thinking I was doing everything I could to help my health and wellbeing. I would recognise my triggers and just keep away from those products. I did find that when I was stressed my issues were worse. After talking to many people over the years and researching I started to take a total organic approach to my diet which made quite a difference however was so expensive. I started growing my own vegetables and understanding soil health was a massive step for me. I then found out about the additives in our foods and the alarm bells started to ring. I couldn’t believe the difference, once I cut the additives out of our lives. The brain fog and tiredness stopped. I wasn’t bloated anymore and I was able to control my symptoms from avoiding specific foods. The main reason I share what I do is because, I want to help you not have to go through what I have. I want you to understand there is a healthier way and it is so simple. You don’t need to have any of the answers you just need to have an open mind and be ready to be shocked and amazed as to what we are exposed to on a daily basis which is harming out health. We have a choice to keep the blinkers on and ignore it or we can open our eyes and be ready to say no to things and yes to others.
Have you ever wondered about the air you are breathing the carpet, couch, and air fresheners, body products the sprays you are using in your garden or used at the playground before you and your family arrived? Do you ever wonder about the sprays and chemicals on our so called healthy products? Do you get your house sprayed for flies and spiders? There are so many things were are doing on a daily basis we can swap or simply say no to!
