This is me as a 37 year old, on the tip of Cape
York the highest point you can go on Australia. I also
came to this very same spot as a 6 year old with my
family! I was not impressed at all when I arrived, as a 6
year old, as we had travelled thousands of Km and
through crazy hard 4wheel drive tracks, to get to this
point and their was an island straight in front of us! I
couldn’t believe it, why would anyone want to go all that
way, just to have an island to spoil the view! I
remember my mother telling me at the time, it was all
about the journey! I’m not sure I believed her at the
time, however her words have always stuck with me.
We went on several trips, as a family and I have
memories of all of them, which is pretty special. I now
have been able to take my children to the tip of
Australia and take them on similar adventures. I can’t
believe what a massive effort my parent would of gone
to 31 years ago traveling with 4 children on such an
adventure and I thanked both of them when I got home.
My husband loves an adventure and we have had
many 4 wheel drive trips together. It is so good to get
out and see our beautiful country and show our children
how amazing life can be when you are totally present.
I can’t wait to share more adventures with my family. I
think it is all of the little things that I will cherish the
most, playing UNO most nights, sitting on the beach
together, looking at the different country side, meeting
people along the way and simply having no other
destructions but ourselves and our journey! If you have
a bucket list or somewhere or something you are
wanting to do, don’t be to afraid to do it. We all get
caught up in our busy lives and are forgetting to create
memories!
